Defending champions Mumbai Indians, after suffering a five-wicket defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the season opener, locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in the fifth match of IPL 2020 at Abu Dhabi.
It was MI skipper Rohit Sharma’s day as he slammed a 54-ball 80 and steered his side to a dominant 195-run total on the scoreboard. The prolific right-hander slammed 6 sixes in his knock, becoming the second Indian player after MS Dhoni to achieve the milestone of hitting 200 sixes in the tournament’s history.
In reply, KKR had no answers to MI’s bowling force. Dinesh Karthik’s men succumbed to the climbing pressure and eventually fizzled out on a meagre 146 runs, handing a 49-run victory to the Mumbai Paltan. MI, with their emphatic win, also opened their tally in the points table by clinching their first victory in IPL 2020.
Mumbai Indians welcome Agastya to their ‘One Family’
Millions of fans were glued to the television while watching Mumbai Indians bat in the middle. One of them was Hardik Pandya’s son Agastya, who was supporting MI from home along with Natasa Stankovic. “The smallest version of Blue & Gold T-shirt went to Agastya Baby, the latest addition to our #OneFamily!” tweeted the franchise while sharing an adorable picture of the son-mother duo.

Hardik and Natasa were blessed with Agastya in July and the couple was showered with wishes from all across the globe. Amid the national lockdown, both Hardik and Natasa had even shared multiple photos and clips featuring Agastya.
The all-rounder, however, had a forgettable outing against KKR. Standing deep in his crease, Hardik was dismissed hit wicket while trying to drive the ball. He had to depart back after scoring just 18 off 13 deliveries. Fans were expecting the 26-year-old to contribute with the ball. But head coach Mahela Jayawardene revealed that the franchise isn’t giving him the bowling responsibility yet as he has just recovered from a back injury.
After clinching their first victory in IPL 2020, the Mumbai side will now face Royal Challengers Bangalore on 28th September, followed by Kings XI Punjab on 1st October. MI are currently poised second in the points table with a win and a loss under their belt.
