Michael Clarke has skin cancer removed from his forehead, shares picture

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke, on Saturday (September 7), shared delightful news with his fans as he had skin cancer removed from his forehead this week. The 38-year old was first diagnosed with skin cancer way back in 2006. It was the very reason that had made him ditch the famous baggy green in order to wear floppy hat thereafter to get more protection for his face.

But it did not stop cancer from recurring. Prior to his latest surgery, he already had three non-melanoma skin cancers removed from his face. This time around, he had cancer removed from between his eyebrows after undergoing an invasive procedure. Michael Clarke posted a photo of himself on Instagram where the surgery marks could be seen. In the photo, the legendary cricketer could be seen pushing his hair back to reveal stitches between his eyebrows.

Along with the photo, he also advised the youngsters to take all the precautionary measures to save their skin from the sun.  Father of one, Clarke advised his followers to protect themselves from the sun to as he wrote, “Youngsters out there make sure you are doing all the right things to protect yourself from the sun”.

Clarke working for the cause

Michael Clarke, nonetheless, is making the most of his experience with cancer. He has been a Cancer Council ambassador since 2010. According to Daily Mail, Clarke, in 2014, appeared in the Cancer Council’s ad campaign where he advised fans to keep an eye on their skin.

“Aussie blokes and women need to keep a close eye on your skin, particularly look in those hard to see places, and familiarize yourself with your body,” Clarke said.

The former batsman had constantly struggled with injuries throughout his glittering career. He was diagnosed with chronic back pain at the age of 17 and faced the issue throughout. In the later part of his career, he also suffered from hamstring injuries. However, the injuries did not affect his form much as he bowed out of the game as one of the greats.
