Sanjay Manjrekar and Michael Vaughan are two of the most active former cricketers on Twitter. As much as they like to remain in the thick of the things, they also face the heat from their followers and others every now and then for their bold statements. And recently both Manjrekar and Vaughan were involved in an exchange of tweets. It all started with Manjrekar’s controversial comment for India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

The former Indian cricketer, who never shies away from coming up with bold comments, created a huge storm by calling Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces cricketer. while doing live commentary in India’s round-robin fixture against Bangladesh. At that stage, Jadeja was yet to play a single game in the ongoing World Cup. Furious with the commentator’s views, Jadeja took to Twitter and slammed him pretty harshly.

Majrekar vs Jadeja

The India all-rounder even went on to the extent of saying that, he had already played double the number of matches Manjrekar played in his career and termed his commentary as “verbal diarrhoea”. But Manjrekar did not respond to the criticism as it was not the first time that he had to face something of this sort on social media.

But just a day after Jadeja’s criticism, the Mumbaikar sensationally included him in his predicted eleven for India’s semi-final clash against New Zealand. As Jadeja had a good outing against Sri Lanka with the ball and on the field, Manjrekar did not refrain from naming him in his eleven for the upcoming clash against the Black Caps.

Manjrekar vs Vaughan

This is when the former England captain, Vaughan decided to intervene. Talking a sly dig at Manjrekar, he tweeted: “I see you have picked that bits and pieces cricketer !!!”

While Sanjay Manjrekar ignored Jadeja’s tweet, he did respond to Vaughan’s quote. The cricketer-turned-commentator justified the rationale behind his selection decision. He told Vaughan that it was the team he predicted Team India would play with and not the team he would field.

“Predicted’ my dear Vaughan…not ‘my’ team,” Manjrekar replied on Twitter.

But Vaughan was not at all ready to let the matter go as he responded again and took another shot at Manjrekar by tweeting: “What’s your team then my dear Sanjay !! Are you picking any bits & pieces cricketers ?”
