England cricket team was at the receiving end of some serious criticism from the former cricketers and cricket pundits after they registered a loss against India in the five-match T20I series by 3-2. Before this, the visitors had also succumbed to a humiliating defeat in the purest format of the game as India had emerged victorious in the four-match Test series by 3-1.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan, who is known for his blunt and harsh tweets, was one among the many to put the English side under major scrutiny. England’s ace spinner Moeen Ali was at his fluent best in the second Test matches that he played against India in Chennai.
Moeen had to sit out in the first Test but he managed to weave magic in the second game as he claimed as many as eight wickets in the match and scored a blistering 43 off 18 in England’s second innings. However, Ali’s efforts went in vain as the Brits lost the game by a massive 317 runs.
Meanwhile, the spinner had to give the last two Test matches conducted at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad a miss as he was sent back to England in view of the players’ rotation policy by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Due to a busy cricketing year in 2021, ECB has decided to give breaks to all the players at regular intervals to keep them fresh and rejuvenated.

Moeen returned back to India as he was named in England’s squad for the five T20 Internationals in Ahmedabad but the spin all-rounder didn’t feature even in a single game and had to warm the bench for the entire series. England showed more belief in Adil Rashid and decided to go with just one spin option throughout the series, unlike India who played two spinners in every game.

Vaughan also took a jibe at the visitors saying that Ali must be the “greatest energy drinks mixer” as he was specially called to bench in the T20I series.
“Moeen Ali must be the greatest energy drinks mixer of all time … Missed two Tests to not play a game in the T20 series … !!! #OnOn #INDvENG,” Vaughan tweeted
