Michael Vaughan, Graeme Swann, and Marcus North name their best Test XI's
As we come to the close of the year, three former stalwarts of the cricketing arena in the form of Michael Vaughan, Graeme Swann, and Australian Marcus North have all submitted their All-Time XI’s for the year 2016. There are certainly a few surprising choices a couple of them have made, but the overall fact that seen them pick more or less the similar XI, to say the least.
Earlier today, Swann had revealed the best XI he had played against and it consisted of a few impressive names in Test cricket and players who had made an impact for themselves in their respective careers.
Michael Vaughan
Michael Vaughan has been one of the best players to have been churned out by England. However, when it comes to picking the best Test team in the world, it has not been the easiest thing in the world, to say the least. One thing that certainly surprises one and all would be the fact that AB de Villiers has been picked despite the fact that he has missed some of the most recent Test matches including the wins in Australia. Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, and Joe Root, three of the best batsmen in the world have all featured in Vaughan’s XI.
Vaughan’s XI: David Warner, Joe Root, Steve Smith (C), Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Ben Stokes, Quinton de Kock (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Josh Hazlewood, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc
Graeme Swann
Graeme Swann’s XI only has a couple of changes when it comes to naming the side. Murali Vijay, Umesh Yadav, and Jonny Bairstow all come into the side with Swann concurring for the most part with his former skipper Michale Vaughan. Jonny Bairstow has had a tremendous year with runs in all the series that the played in. Umesh Yadav also justifies his selection in the side given his impressive fitness.
Swann’s XI: David Warner, Murali Vijay, Steve Smith (C), Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Josh Hazlewood, Umesh Yadav
Marcus North
While Marcus North has not had the most illustrious of careers, he also seems to agree with his two compatriots given the fact that he adds Usman Khawaja and Dale Steyn to the side in addition to Mitchell Starc and Kagiso Rabada. North, however, has concurred with Vaughan that AB de Villiers is a prominent part of the squad.
North’s XI: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith (C), Virat Kohli, Joe Root, AB De Villiers (WK), Ben Stokes, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mitchell Starc, Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada
