Michael Vaughan wants Australian team to be back
The Indian team has made life tough for Eoin Morgan & Co.
England, the No.1 ranked ODI team thrashed Australia 5-0 in their last 50-overs assignment at home. When the Indian team landed here, it was expected to be their toughest test. Since the World Cup 2015 England have been playing exceptional white-ball cricket at home and away. However, the Indians are in some form themselves and thus former England captain Michael Vaughan was forced to ask Australia to come back.
Virat Kohli and his team are in England for a long tour, after the three-match T20I series, they are playing as many ODIs and then will play a five-match Test series. They won the T20Is 2-1 and were brilliant in their wins. On flat wickets where the home team unleashes their batting strength, the Men in Blue also relish such opportunities and it is then about which team bowls better.
India have two quality wrist spinners in their lineup who irrespective of the pitch and conditions have the ability to trouble the batters and pick wickets. Kuldeep Yadav registered his first T20I five-wicket haul in the first T20I and that sealed the deal for India. He along with Yuzvendra Chahal have managed the middle overs with so much authority. They don’t let the batsmen off the hook and with pressure from both ends, most succumb and thus the twin has been successful in getting India the lead more often than not.
Vaughan who enjoyed his team’s victories when Australia toured England is worried about their fortunes now. Hence he tweeted- “Can we have Australia back please …….”
Here is his tweet:
The first ODI of the three-match series got underway earlier today at Trent Bridge. Kohli won the toss and asked England to bat first. This is the very ground where they piled on the highest score in the format 481 against Australia but it wasn’t quite the story against Kuldeep & Co. The wrist-spinner picked up a six-wicket haul and restricted England to 268 which should not be a huge task for Team India given their batting strength and how good a batting wicket it is.
