Mickey Arthur names the future No. 1 bowler in World cricket
The Pakistan cricket head coach Mickey Arthur was all praise for the youngster.
Pakistan and fast bowlers often go hand in hand. Over the years, they’ve continued to produce some quality fast bowling talent. The latest one being Shaheen Shah Afridi. The young, teenage left-arm pacer came into the limelight during the U19 World Cup in New Zealand in January last year. He rattled most batsmen in that tournament, picking up 12 wickets in five innings.
He hasn’t looked back since. Afridi has gone on to make his debut for Pakistan in all three formats and has been very impressive. While he might’ve picked up 12 wickets in three Test matches, but he still seems to be finding his feet in the longest format. However, he’s been superb with the white-ball. In 10 ODIs, he has taken 19 wickets at an average of 19.36. In T20Is, he’s picked up 13 wickets in nine games at an average of 19.46.
The 19-year-old fast bowler has the ability to move the ball at pace. He can clock high speeds and has rattled quite a few batsmen in his short international career. In fact, it’s barely been a year since his international debut and he’s already creating so much noise around the world. Afridi has been picked in Pakistan’s World Cup squad and he will play a big part in that bowling attack.
‘In three years time, he will be the number one quick bowler in world cricket’
The Pakistan cricket head coach Mickey Arthur was all praise for Shaheen Afridi. He stated that the young left-arm fast bowler will headline world cricket and be the number one quick in three years time. “I’ve made a prediction that in three years time, Shaheen Shah Afridi will be the number one quick bowler in world cricket,” Mickey Arthur was quoted saying on radio commentary.
Pakistan are currently in England where they will play one T20I and five ODIs before they kickstart their World Cup campaign against West Indies on the 31st of May.
