Microsoft, Adobe CEO amongst major investors in US T20 League

On Thursday, it has been announced that the name of the first professional T20 league in the US will be Major League Cricket (MLC). In its fundraising round of Series A and A1, MLC has completed an initial close of $44 million as announced by the officials. This fundraising round has been led by a group of major American business leaders. It has been also reported in another commitment of $76 million in the next round of fundraising is about to happen within a year. Even MLC has a plan to put more than $120 million to launch America’s first professional T20 league in their cricketing history. In Series A and Series A1 rounds of fundraising including the seed funding round, the investment has been led by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen. The other investors for MLC include the likes of Soma Somasegar, MD of Madrona Venture Group, founding partners at Miliways Ventures and Rocketship VC Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan, chairman of Infinite Computer Solutions Zyter Sanjay Govi and Managing Partner of Perot Jain. Other investors of the Series A round are Akamai co-founder Preetish Nijhawan, Accenture MD Sankar Kaliaperumal and Dhigha Sekaran, director at Meta and former MS executive. This funding will allow to build world-class facilities for cricket: MLC co-founders “The significant funding committed by an outstanding group of investors will allow Major League Cricket to build first-class facilities and accelerate the sport’s development across the country, bringing world-class professional cricket to the world’s largest sports market,” MLC co-founders MLC Sameer Mehta and Vijay Srinivasan said in a joint statement. MLC, in a statement, said that the initial investment of this $120 million will be used to focus on establishing premier cricket-specific arenas and training centers as well which will encourage to develop new and dedicated generation of cricketers in the US. MLC has also planned to extend its support to both America’s Men’s and Women’s teams, with an aim of encouraging them to compete in the highest level of international competition. In an effort to encourage the game of cricket in the US, it has been confirmed that major Indo-American business tycoons are funding $120 million to launch first professional T20 league in the America.

On Thursday, it has been announced that the name of first profession T20 league of US will be Major League Cricket (MLC). In its fundraising round of Series A and A1, MLC has completed an initial close of $44 million as announced by the officials. This fundraising round has been led by a group of major American business leaders.

It has been also said in another commitment of $76 million in the next round of fundraising is about to happen within a year. Even MLC has a plan to put more than $120 million to launch America’s first professional T20 league in their cricketing history.

This funding will allow to build world-class facilities for cricket: MLC co-founders

“The significant funding committed by an outstanding group of investors will allow Major League Cricket to build first-class facilities and accelerate the sport’s development across the country, bringing world-class professional cricket to the world’s largest sports market,” MLC co-founders MLC Sameer Mehta and Vijay Srinivasan said in a joint statement.

Speaking to encourage MLC, Nadella said, “Growing up in India, Cricket was one of my passions and playing cricket taught me more about working in teams and leadership that has stayed with me throughout my career.”

It is notable that Nadella has played cricket competitively for his school team and he said later that he enjoys the nature of Test cricket while watching it, which is not only the longest format of cricket but also the longest form of any sport throughout the globe.

MLC, in a statement, said that the initial investment of this $120 million will be used to focus on establishing premier cricket specific arenas and training centers as well which will encourage to develop a new and dedicated generation of cricketers in US.

MLC has also planned to extend its support both America’s Men’s and Women’s teams, with an aim of encouraging them to compete in the highest level of international competition. America is also the co-host for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 along with the West Indies.
