Mithali Raj shuts down trolls with a dignified response
Be it her admirable captaincy on the field or her wordless elegance off it, the lady never fails to enthral us.
Mithali Raj is the epitome of grace and dignity, with just the right balance of feisty aggression, both on and off the field. Be it her admirable captaincy on the field or her wordless elegance off it, the lady never fails to enthral us. After being trolled on social media for a picture that she posted, Mithali had a sassy comeback up her sleeves which proved once again why she’s an inspiration in all quarters for millions of women in the country.
The 34-year-old has been an exemplary presence in the world of cricket and has made immense contributions to Women’s cricket. Not only did she lead India to the finals of the ICC Women’s World Cup, 2017 but she also recently became the highest run-scorer in the history of Women’s ODIs. She’s also the first woman to have crossed the 6000-runs mark in One-Day Internationals (ODI).
Mithali has the perfect comeback to the ridiculous trolls
Recently, Mithali was trolled twice on social media for bizarre reasons. First, when she posted a picture where sweat was visible on her attire and second, when she posted a picture of herself with her friends, wearing a tank top. Several social media users ludicrously criticised Mithali for her choice of clothing and called her names, demanding that she wear clothes showing less skin.
Here is the photo Mithali got trolled over:
Unfazed by the baseless criticism, the India team skipper chose to maintain a dignified silence on the matter before coming out with a superb straight drive of a reply, that left all the haters as dumbfounded as the bowlers she’s hit for boundaries in her career. She posted a picture of herself captioned “I keep my focus, work hard and do my best!”
Twitterati immediately showered adulation on the prolific cricketer and came out in support of Mithali’s fearless attitude. In a recent telephonic conversation with Times Now, Mithali said, “I am clearly a very independent woman and I do not need someone to tell me how to dress. Just because he (referring to trolls) has voiced his opinion does not mean that it has to affect me. Like he has the freedom of choice to express himself, I also have the freedom to react or not.”
