Virat Kohli and Mohammad Amir share a strong rivalry on the field. At the same time, they also share a friendly bond when they are not playing for their respective countries. In the past, Amir once described the current Indian skipper as one of the best batsmen in the world. However, now he has come out with a different opinion after being asked to pick the toughest batsman to dismiss.

In modern-day cricket, the battle between the batsmen to be the best in the world is moving towards its all-time high. New Zealand have Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor, India have Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Australia have Steve Smith and David Warner. Likewise, other countries also have some prolific batters in their arsenal.

Jonathan Trott was the toughest to dismiss in the past: Mohammad Amir

The aforementioned batsmen come under the category of the elite batsmen, who took international cricket with a storm with their batting since a decade. Mohammad Amir, who bid adieu to Test cricket in 2019, is a fortunate bowler to play against the finest. During an interaction, he was asked to pick the toughest batsman against whom he bowled during his career.

To which, the 28-year-old said that Jonathan Trott, the former England cricketer with more than 6000 international runs, is the one that was difficult to bowl. Meanwhile, he also picked Steve Smith, the former Aussie skipper from the current lot.

Question: Who have you found to be the toughest batsmen to dismiss?

Mohammad Amir: In the past, I would say it was Jonathan Trott. From the current batsmen, it is Steven Smith due to his solid technique.

Here is the tweet:

Previously, during a live Instagram session, the Pakistan pacer had picked Saeed Anwar as his all-time a favourite batsman and Virat Kohli as one of the finest in the current generation.

“My overall favourite in Pakistan is Saeed Bhai but if you talk about this era then it is Virat Kohli. There is no match to him in this era,” Amir had said during the session.

In international cricket, Amir and Kohli have faced each other in 5 ODIs and two T20Is. Interestingly, the speedster has managed to take the wicket of Indian batsman only once– in 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final. In that game, the Men in Blue lost to Pakistan by a margin of 180 runs and Amir scalped three wickets in that match.
