Virat Kohli’s failure in England back in 2014 is still the talking point even after four years. He had managed to muster only 134 runs in five Test matches and James Anderson was his nemesis in most of the innings. He will soon be facing the same bowler again even as there are doubts about the Indian captain if he will be able to lead from the front this time. Mohammad Azharuddin, however, is confident of him doing exceptionally well with the willow.

The five-match series is all set to commence on August 1 in Birmingham with many believing that the contest will go down the wire. Last time India toured England, the visitors had lost the series by 3-1 despite taking the lead with a memorable and unexpected win at Lord’s.

I don’t think he will be under pressure

Mohammed Azharuddin believes that Virat Kohli must have learned from the horrific 2014 tour and will perform to his potential in the series. “At that time, it was his first tour… now he has got so many runs behind him and I think will perform wonderfully well. He has led India in so many Test matches so I don’t think he will have any pressure now as far as leadership is concerned,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The mind games before the series have already begun and the pressure will be on both the sides to come out on top. Team India is currently at the top of the ICC Test rankings and no wonder they would be looking to strengthen their position by winning the series.

But every player in the team will have to give his best to overcome the strong England side who are tough to beat at home. They have their own issues to deal with though and Kohli’s troops would be keen on exposing those during the course of the series.
