Mohammed Siraj ducks even before Pat Cummins releases the ball; leaves Twitter in splits
The incident took place on the first ball of the 101st over.
It won’t be wrong to say that a tailender facing a fast-bowler makes up for one of the most amusing and entertaining battles in the games. And it was seen once again when Mohammed Siraj was up against Pat Cummins on day three of the ongoing third Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
The Australian bowlers were giving the Indian batsmen a hard time with their short ball tactics. And Cummins used the same tactics against Siraj too in order to intimidate the latter. But the India fast-bowler perhaps knew what was coming his way and it led to a hilarious incident. The incident took place on the first ball of the 101st over.
Siraj knew that Cummins would fire a short ball at him and was ready for it. Anticipating the bouncer, the tailender hilariously ducked even before the ball was bowled. Unsurprisingly, Siraj’s hilarious tactics left the Australian players amused. He and Cummins even shared a laugh over the incident. Cummins, nonetheless, took three more balls to dismiss Siraj and end the Indian innings.
Injury concerns for India
The short ball tactics from Australia saw India suffer two huge injury blows on Saturday as Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja coped nasty blows. Both the players were subsequently taken for scans to determine the nature and extent of the injury. Pant was the first to suffer the injury while he was facing Cummins.
The wicketkeeper-batsman was hit on the left elbow while attempting a pull off Cummins. He was dismissed soon after the blow and did not take the field when India came out to bowl. In his absence, Wriddhiman Saha kept the stumps. Jadeja, on the other hand, was hit on the left thumb by a short ball from Mitchell Starc. Just like Pant, Jadeja did not come out to the field either.
India would be desperately hoping that none of the injuries are serious. The visitors have already lost the services of several key players due to injuries. KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami were ruled out of the series during the course of the last few days.
