Mohammed Siraj gifts himself a BMW after memorable tour of Australia

Mohammed Siraj has been a very busy man since returning home after the historic tour of Australia. The right-arm pacer played a key role in India’s monumental triumph Down Under. The odds were firmly against the visitors especially after they lost the first Test in Adelaide after being bowled out for just 36 in the second innings.

The injuries and departure of Virat Kohli to India further added to the team’s woes. However, the Indian team bounced back in style and went on to win two of the following three Tests while drawing the other to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Siraj’s role in the victory was huge as the Hyderabad pacer finished the series as India’s highest wicket-taker.

And the 26-year old has rewarded himself handsomely for his stunning exploits in Australia. On Friday, he gifted himself a BMW. Siraj revealed the news on his Instagram handle. The bowling star posted a short clip of his new car on the Instagram story.

Siraj has been very busy since returning home on Thursday. Soon after landing in India, he drove straight to the graveyard to pay tribute to his father who passed away on November 20 while the pacer was in Australia. The BCCI had given Siraj the chance to return home to be with his bereaved family but he had decided to stay in Australia. The visit to the graveyard was followed by a media session outside his home.

Mohammed Siraj’s performance in Australia:

Mohammed Siraj made his debut in the second Test of the series. He got the opportunity only because Mohammed Shami had broken his elbow in the first Test and did not look back after that. In his debut Test, he picked up five wickets to help India beat Australia by eight wickets at the iconic MCG and draw level in the series.

In the third Test at the SCG, he picked up two wickets. The match, however, was marred by the racial abuse he faced from the crowd. Siraj stood up against the racists and made sure that the world took notice of the shameful incident. He had saved his best performance for the last Test in Brisbane. After taking only one wicket in the first innings, the Hyderabad star picked up five wickets in the second.
