MS Dhoni arrives at team India nets ahead of ODI series
The first ODI will be played at Dambulla on August 20.
Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was recently spotted joining the practice sessions of the national side. Dhoni joined the Indian team who are all set to lock horns with hosts Sri Lanka in a 5 match ODI series. The ODI fixtures will be followed by a solitary T20I game as well. Earlier in the tour, the team has already registered a thumping 3-0 win in the Test series.
Now, the squad has changed a bit and the onus is on the ODI lot to deliver the goods for the Indian team. It is totally unfair to be tracking one particular player on the tour but such is the name and fame of the former Indian skipper that he ends up bagging all the headlines. MS Dhoni strolled out to bat in the nets and the sparse crowds gathered to watch the practice sessions had their mouths awed for the former skipper.
Dhoni faced the combined lot of bowlers which had the Indian pacers from the ODI squad and the local Sri Lankan net bowlers as well. As per the reports in Times of India, he was seen struggling in the nets during the first few deliveries that he faced. This can largely be accredited to the fact that he has been out of international action for quite some time now, almost a month.
However, he soon found some good touch to his batting and ended up hitting beautiful shots to show some fine form. The series is very vital for MS Dhoni since the chief selector has already claimed that Dhoni is no longer an automatic selection in the team. He will have to prove his worth and continue performing to keep his place in the Indian lineup. The first ODI will be played at Dambulla on August 20.
