MS Dhoni cuts the cake in presence of team-mates and family

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni turned 37 today and it has been celebration time since the clock touched 12:00 last night. His fans, friends, former team-mates and admirers from all the various fields posted special messages for the man on social media. Dhoni is with the Indian team in England and the team was just waiting for the moment.

A video emerged on social media where Dhoni is surrounded by the Indian players, support staff and their families who have travelled to England. He blows all the candles and then cuts the two cakes as all in presence sing ‘happy birthday to you’. One special guest, there was his daughter Ziva who was sitting on the table there and clapping as her father cut the cake.

Indian players – Deepak Chahar, Hardik Pandya along with others are visible in the video along with Dhoni’s better half Sakshi.

Team India played the second T20I of the series against the hosts last night, though they lost the match it was a really competitive game. Dhoni is playing multiple roles in this team. He is not just an important player in the batting department but is also mentoring the youngsters who are on their first tour to England.

On individual front, he had a better game as the 37-year-old walked in when the team was in dire need for some late charge. He hung in there and stitched a partnership with skipper Virat Kohli. Dhoni waited for the right moment before going for the kill. Spending time in the middle helped the team score 33 runs in the last two overs. He hit four boundaries in Jake Ball’s last over and helped India finish with 148 runs.

Though it wasn’t a par total, ensured the Men in Blue were still in the game as it went down the wire and on the back of Alex Hales’ mature knock the hosts managed to level the series 1-1.
