MS Dhoni doesn't deserve to go out with a small message on social media: Shoaib Akhtar

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has always been praised for being a grounded person even with the amount of success he had. The former captain has been one of the greatest all-time match winners India ever had. Almost all the cricketers share a lot of respect for the great man they shared the field with. Shoaib Akhtar like many others shared his views on the retirement of the former cricketer.

The former Pakistan fast bowler is well known for his gun speed and his fear in batsman’s mind. The speedster recently revealed how he intentionally bowled a beamer to MS Dhoni on his debut Test hundred against the neighbor country. Now the pacer has wished for a farewell match for the Ranchi stalwart.

He asked BCCI to organize a farewell for the big time legend to present him with a proper farewell. Shoaib said that the cricketers who represent their country for 15-16 years should be given respect and an adequate farewell. He also said that BCCI always takes care of its players even after retirement.

“I was confident that MS Dhoni will get a good farewell but that is not what he wants. Playing for India was his biggest dream which he fulfilled. It’s always a great time to leave when you want to, people shouldn’t push you towards retirement. India loves and respects its cricket stars, I know because I have learned that from experience,” Akhtar told on his YouTube channel.

Akhtar also mentioned that such a prominent career should not end with a social media post. He also wished that the knowledge Dhoni has will be utilized to the maximum by BCCI.

“There might be a scenario that Dhoni gets a farewell match. BCCI might ask him to play one final time to give him a send-off whenever it is possible in the current scenario because such a big player like Dhoni doesn’t deserve to go out with a small message on social media. I hope India sends him off with a lot of respect and in times to come they use his experience in some way or the other.”

“Whoever serves their country for 15-16 will have tons of knowledge and I hope the BCCI utilises that,” Shoaib Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.

Earlier, arguably the greatest finisher of all time ended his 16-year-old career with a 4-minute video on Instagram. The 39-year old wrote, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired”.

He will be remembered for his excellent captaincy and match-winning ability. Dhoni remains the only captain to have all three ICC trophies under his belt.
