MS Dhoni has performed better than Eoin Morgan with the bat even without playing international cricket recently: Gautam Gambhir
MS Dhoni and his men will be eyeing their fourth IPL title tonight.
CSK and KKR are all set to lock horns in the ultimate clash of IPL 2021 in Dubai and it remains to be seen which team dominates the proceedings. There have been a lot of talks around the final clash and in the same line, former cricketer and analyst Gautam Gambhir has weighed in his opinions. Gambhir opened up on the batting form of CSK skipper MS Dhoni and KKR leader Eoin Morgan.
Gambhir added that it would be completely wrong to draw parallels between Dhoni and Morgan as the former has retired from international cricket and is the second player on the team. On the other hand, Morgan is the limited-overs skipper of his national team.
However, if it still has to be compared between then, MS has certainly performed better with the bat, reckoned the former opener. It is acceptable for the Ranchi stalwart if he is not in his optimum form or contributing a little less to his team, unlike Morgan.
“Comparing their forms is very wrong in itself because MS Dhoni has retired from international cricket and the second player is the captain of his national team. You should not compare apples with oranges,” said Gautam Gambhir in a conversation on ESPNcricinfo.
MS Dhoni hasn’t played international cricket for so long: Gambhir
“MS Dhoni hasn’t played international cricket for so long and it’s acceptable if he’s not in form or is contributing less. But on the other hand, Morgan is playing international cricket. Still, if you look at their performances, MS Dhoni has performed better than Morgan even with the bat.”
Adding more to the conversation, Gambhir stated that Dhoni has three departments to manage in form of batting, captaincy, and wicketkeeping. On the other hand, Morgan just got two and hence it will be unfair to draw a comparison between the two.
Talking about the final clash, if KKR wins the title, it will be their third title but MSD and his men will be seeing their fourth title come alive if they win the game at the Dubai International Stadium on October 15.
