MS Dhoni knows how to get the best out of every player: Kedar Jadhav
"I would have done anything to be a part of Chennai Super Kings," he said.
Kedar Jadhav earned his spot in the Indian team on the back of enormous hard work in domestic cricket. It was his consistent ability to churn out runs in crunch situations that got him all the way. His shot to fame at the highest level however was with his slow and deceptive bowling. Acknowledging the contribution of former skipper MS Dhoni in the same, Jadhav said that he became a different player after Dhoni asked him to bowl in international cricket.
The Maharashtra cricketer is set to play under him in the Chennai Super Kings after being picked for Rs. 7.8 crore. The part-time spinner bowls with a unique action and has been successful in breaking partnerships in multiple matches even in challenging situations wherein other bowlers found it difficult to do so. His low-arm release point and the trajectory is the reason that most batsmen find it difficult to read him.
Allows a player to express himself
“I firmly believe that I became a different player after Dhoni bhai asked me to bowl in international cricket. I hadn’t even dreamt until then that I could bowl and pick wickets for India,” the 32-year-old said.
He lavished praise on Dhoni for supporting players in every possible way and the ability to get the best out of everyone. “He allows a player to express himself and supports a player in every possible way. He knows how to get the best out of every player, that’s his biggest quality,” Jadhav was quoted as saying by the CSK website.
Previously having played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he also said that he would have done anything to be part of the Chennai-based franchise and hoped to play the best cricket of his life with the team.
“I would have done anything to be a part of Chennai Super Kings. To me, CSK is (MS) Dhoni bhai on the field and I hope to play the best cricket of my life with this team,” he added.
CSK has been a top team
Since Dhoni is known to be one of the best readers of the game, assessing each match situation differently, the right-handed batsman, who also keeps wickets, said he looked forward to learning from Dhoni on how to read a situation and adapt quickly.
“Over the last decade CSK have been one of the top teams in IPL. So being a part of this team I am sure I will give my best in every game and also learn more from Dhoni bhai on how to read a situation and adapt quickly,” he added.
Going by his experience with Dhoni in international cricket, Jadhav also said that playing under the big man would help him express himself better as his presence would give him immense confidence.
“Playing under him for CSK I am sure I will express myself in ways that I have never done before as his presence gives me immense confidence,” Jadhav concluded.
