After an inspiring season in the Ranji Trophy this year, Jharkhand started off their Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Trophy campaign against Assam on a losing note. Chasing a target of 134, Assam romped home by 4 wickets and with 7 balls to spare. They will surely try to rectify their mistakes ahead of the 2nd encounter and come out all guns blazing. Jharkhand is expected to bolstered by the return of Varun Aaron who will make a comeback after a long injury layoff and if everything falls into place former India skipper MS Dhoni will feature in the game against Bengal on 5th February.

Arguably the greatest Indian captain ever, MS Dhoni stepped down from India’s limited overs captaincy ahead of the ODI series against England and handed over the reign to Virat Kohli. Despite stepping down from captaincy, Dhoni continues to be an important member of the limited-overs set-up and he has still a lot to offer to the national team. Kohli had mentioned before the start of the limited-overs leg that he would Dhoni to bat up the order and he has maintained his stance.

After missing out in the ODI, Dhoni came roaring back to form with a stupendous century in the 2nd ODI at the Barbati Stadium in Cuttack and along with Yuvraj Singh, the duo ensured India took an unassailable lead in the 3 match series.Despite being in the twilight of his career, Dhoni continues to be one of the fittest cricketers around and can give any youngster a run for their money especially in running between the wickets. If he does play for Jharkhand against Bengal it will surely bolster their chances in the tournament.

Meanwhile, three top notch players from Jharkhand Ishan Kishan, Ishank Jaggi and Shahbaz Nadeem have been picked in the 14 member India A squad which will play a two-day warm-up game against Bangladesh ahead of the only Test in Hyderabad.

It will be a blow for Jharkhand to miss the services of their prime players but the inclusion of Dhoni will surely work in their favour.
