MS Dhoni quits as Amrapali brand ambassador
Indian limited overs skipper MS Dhoni has shown that he keeps his moral ethics ahead of everything. Dhoni, who was the brand ambassador of realty firm Amrapali, has resigned from his position after unhappy residents of a housing project in Noida launched a social media campaign urging him to cut ties with the group.
He has been associated with the company for the past six to seven years. It is also reported that his wife Sakshi Dhoni, who holds the director’s position in the company will also be resigning soon.
Dhoni took this step after the complaints from the residents of Amrapali’s Saphhire project in Noida with hashtag #amrapalimisusedhoni had become a rage on Twitter over the past few days. The residents were demanding the cricketer to disassociate himself from the builder or ensure completion of pending work.
This move was appreciated by many and one of them who acknowledged it was his team mate Harbhajan Singh who lauded Dhoni’s decision and revealed how the builder has some bad reputation of not delivering on the promises.
“Well done @msdhoni for dropping #Amrapalli builders s brand ambassadorship..they didn’t gave us VILLAS they announce after 2011 worldcup win”
In the wake of this incident, it is reported that a parliamentary panel is likely to recommend a hefty penalty and a jail term of up to five years to celebrities endorsing misleading advertisements.
The panel is planning to propose Rs 10 lakh fine or imprisonment up to two years or both for first-time offence while the second offence could attract Rs 50 lakh fine and imprisonment for five years.
