Chennai Super Kings marked their return to the tournament in style, beating arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in a nail-biting encounter at the latter’s home ground, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MS Dhoni’s return as a captain was equally exciting, but the excitement of winning seemed to have got the better of the otherwise calm and composed batsman, who was seen celebrating animatedly.

When captain cool’s excitement got the better off him

Soon after CSK won their first game after two years, on the back on Dwayne Bravo’s heroic knock of 30-ball 68, MS Dhoni was seen celebrating at the dressing room, something which is not too commonly seen of the man. He was seen clapping his hands and hugging teammates in an ecstatic manner.

CSK, who is one of the most loved franchises across the 8-team extravaganza, will be looking to clinch their third title win this year, and thereby also come to par with their rivals Mumbai, who lifted their third trophy last year. The rivalry between Mumbai and Chennai is one of the most exciting ones, and the fans couldn’t have asked for anything more than what unfolded in the down to the wire game at the iconic venue.

Speaking after the game, Dhoni said: “We’re coming back after two years, that’s also the reason that people are eager to watch us in action. Overall the spectators have been very good. I’m a practical person, so I was hoping in the dressing room that the quantum of defeat shouldn’t be too big. The idea was – if there’s a chance to win, go for it, but also try to get closer to the target.”

Chennai’s adopted son

Dhoni is Chennai’s adopted son and the locals in the Tamil Nadu capital will be eagerly awaiting to watch the man play live at the Chepauk Stadium, which was filled to its capacity even when Dhoni and his boys went there for net sessions.
