MS Dhoni told me that my glovework, leg movements are very good: Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma made his debut for PBKS in the game against CSK.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma opened up about an unforgettable moment from his debut game. He made his debut against the Chennai Super Kings in the 11th match of the IPL 2022. The 28-year-old Vidarbha player helped dismiss MS Dhoni in the game and caught everyone’s attention with his confident appeal.
When he caught MS Dhoni behind the stumps, he appealed for a wicket immediately. While there was no reaction from anyone on the ground, and the umpire remained unconvinced, he was very sure of hearing a sound and convinced skipper Mayank Agarwal to go for a review. The review showed a spike when the ball passed the bat and was successfully upheld.
“I heard a wooden sound in the last game and I asked the captain to take the DRS because I was confident,” Jitesh Sharma had told Star Sports ahead of his team’s game against Gujarat Titans on Friday. “I personally spoke to MS Dhoni and he told me that my glovework and my leg movements are very good, and said I would improve day by day,” he added.

Sharma also expressed that he was grateful to have received the opportunity from PBKS to play in the game. He was a part of the Mumbai Indians squad prior to joining PBKS but never got a chance to be in the playing XI. Now, associated with a new team, he aims to win the IPL trophy this year with the franchise.
“I will contribute in whichever way I can. I am a team man. If the team wins because of me, I will definitely be the happiest on the squad. My only aim this year is to try and help the Punjab Kings win its first trophy,” he said while talking about his stint with the team.
Meanwhile, Sharma is not keeping wickets in his second game against the Gujarat Titans. He managed to score a quick 11-ball 23 in the first innings, comprising two sixes and a four. The Punjab Kings posted a total of 189 runs on board with the loss of nine wickets in their game against GT.
