MS Dhoni will probably play for us even in 2022: Chennai Super Kings CEO
CSK will be hosting a camp for those available from August 15-20 and the franchise is awaiting permission from the Tamil Nadu government to do so.
All eyes are on 39-year-old MS Dhoni to return to the field and make a comeback to competitive cricket. The former India skipper hasn’t braced the field since India’s 2019 World Cup oust.
Amid his truancy from the sport, many speculations have been doing rounds over his international future. Many people believe that the Ranchi stalwart might have played his last game for Team India. However, ardent Dhoni fans are still hopeful for him making a return to the national side.
Amid all the retirement rumours, chief executive officer of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kasi Viswanathan has said that fans can expect Dhoni to be a part for CSK in 2020, 2021 as well as 2022. “We don’t worry about him at all. Yes, We can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year. 2022,” Viswanathan told India Today.

“I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don’t have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don’t worry about him at all. He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team,” he added.
Dhoni is all set to lead Chennai Super Kings in the thirteenth edition of the IPL, slated to start in the UAE from September 19th. Dhoni has been one of the most successful skippers of the cash-rich league, having led CSK to three IPL titles.
Dhoni’s return was delayed when the IPL was postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. He had even led a training camp in Chennai in March but the camp was suspended as well due to the pandemic. Dhoni has kept mum over his international future but many fans believe that he would prove his worth by delivering in the IPL 2020.
Dhoni reportedly began training for IPL 2020, using the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) indoor training facilities in Ranchi. Viswanathan said CSK are hoping to leave for the UAE from Chennai on August 21 after players assemble on August 14.
