In a massive turn of events, Navi Mumbai has been put on high alert after the messages in praise of Islamic State in one of the pillars on Tuesday. The messages written on the Khopta Bridge in Navi Mumbai’s Uran area of Raigad district included the names of the legendary cricketer MS Dhoni and the politician Arvind Kejriwal. Moreover, there were praises for the soldiers fighting for Islamic States (IS) which has led to the police investigating the matter now.
Apart from Dhoni, who is in England to play the World Cup at the moment, the names of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and other terrorists were also mentioned along with the name of Hafeez Saeed. To add to that, the images of rockets were also drawn on the pillars which has raised suspicion among the police force. The Police are investigating in every possible way and are using the CCTV footages near to the bridge to get more clues.
Speaking to India Today, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar confirmed that the inscriptions drawn on the bridge clearly mention names of the former India captain MS Dhoni and the well-known politician Arvind Kejriwal.
We are investigating every possible angle
“The messages or inscription drawn below the bridge mentions names of (Arvind) Kejriwal and (MS) Dhoni and also (Abu Bakr al) Baghdadi. We have collected all possible evidence from the spot which includes beer bottles, mugs and other things. Locals have told us that the spot is frequented by youngsters to consume alcohol but we are investigating every possible angle to find out who could have drawn the inscription,” Sanjay Kumar said.
A senior official close to the happenings has also revealed that the messages are detailed and believes the names of big personalities and politicians could be code words. “The messages are very detailed and also mention time and how each and every mentioned installation can be attacked. The names of personalities and politicians could be code words. So we can’t take any chances. Investigations are on in full swing,” the official told.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Navi Mumbai Police carried out the detailed inspection of the spot only to see the inscriptions and the maps which were drawn using a marker. A separate team and Navi Mumbai crime branch are investigating the matter and the messages cannot be ignored according to one of the officials. “There are vital installations nearby the bridge and therefore these messages cannot be ignored,” the official said.
