Mujeeb Ur Rahman calls MS Dhoni a sweet soul and inspiration
Mujeeb is in the UAE to play in the T10 League.
Afghanistan has produced some of the best spinners over the years. Though Rashid Khan has hogged all the limelight for such a long time, the 17-year-old Mujeeb Ur Rahman has made his own space with magical off-spin bowling at the highest level. Even in the Asia Cup, he was at his best and didn’t let the opposition batsmen get away quickly. Meanwhile, the youngster has revealed his cricketing inspiration in a social media interaction and he is none other than the former India captain MS Dhoni.
The Afghan cricketer has so far represented his country in 23 ODIs and 7 T20 Internationals along with a solitary historic Test match against India and has scalped 44, 9 and 1 wicket respectively. He made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in the 2018 season for the Kings XI Punjab and won a few matches for them with his spell of bowling as well.
Mujeeb all praise about Dhoni
Mujeeb Ur Rahman decided to use Instagram’s Ask Me Anything (AMA) feature on Tuesday and responded to a plethora of questions from his followers. One of the fans asked him to spill a few words about the veteran and the Indian legend MS Dhoni and the offie was all praise about him.
“I think he (Dhoni) is such a sweet soul and he is an inspiration,” Mujeeb wrote in his response which must have won the hearts of Dhoni fans. During the IPL earlier this year, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper struggled against the smart spin bowler. Though Mujeeb can’t breach his defences, Dhoni could never attack him and had to make do with singles or dot balls.
Mujeeb, at the moment, is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will be participating in the T10 League for the Bengal Tigers along with his Afghanistan teammate Mohammad Nabi. He would be keen to make an impact for his team while delivering two-over spells during the short tournament.
