Multan Sultans rope in Shoaib Malik and Kieron Pollard for PSL III
The likes of Tanvir, Mohammad Irfan and Junaid form the three-pronged left-handed attack for the Multan Sultans.
The brand new member of the HBL Pakistan Super League, Multan Sultans, started off their campaign by announcing their first nine players who were picked during the expansion draft. Pakistan stalwart Shoaib Malik and Carribean T20 King Kieron Pollard have been roped in by the side as their Platinum picks.
Last week, Shoaib Malik’s two-year-long association with the Karachi Kings came to an end. Malik has had a glorious T20 career in leagues all over the world. In the 279 T20 appearances he has made so far, the right-hander amassed 7124 runs.
Even in the recent Independence Cup, Malik looked a class apart with his finishing knocks down the order. He would definitely hold the key when he represents Multan Sultan in the upcoming edition of the PSL.
The other major name in Sultans squad is their mentor cum player, Sri Lankan legendary batsman Kumar Sangakkara who recently retired from First Class Cricket only recently. The likes of Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan would form the three-pronged left-handed attack for the Multan Sultan.
Multan-born local talent Sohaib Maqsood finds a place in the team for the third edition of Pakistan’s premier T20 league. Maqsood is accompanied by spinners Irfan Khan (leggie) and Kashif Bhatti (left arm orthodox) in nine picks of Multan Sultans.
“Multan Sultans have gone for experience and a strong Pakistani core with this selection. We would like to welcome the first nine Sultans on board and we can’t wait for the main draft to build on this selection.” commented the President of Multan Sultans, Asher Schon, according to Cricingif.
The other five teams of the PSL had announced their retained players on October 5, following which released players were made available for the Sultans to pick their initial squad from. A bigger and better HBL Pakistan Super League returns to action in February 2018!
