'Mumbai se hai to shaana ban raha hai?' - Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur indulge in hilarious banter
"Friendly banter or sledging? We'll leave it to you to decide", KKR wrote on Twitter while sharing the video of the banter.
The Kolkata Knight Riders went against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on April 10. Both teams headed into the contest on the back of contrasting results. While KKR registered an impressive five-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians, Delhi suffered a six-wicket defeat to Lucknow Super Giants.
Meanwhile, two of their key players, skipper Shreyas Iyer and bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur, were involved in a hilarious banter in typical Mumbai style. Both of them started their respective cricketing careers in Mumbai and are also aware of each other’s techniques.
Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur challenge each other in Mumbai style
In the latest video posted by KKR on their official Twitter handle, both Iyer and Thakur showered praises on each other before making their points crystal clear ahead of the contest.
“Tu ready ho jaa ek aur sample dekhne ke liye aaj Brabourne me. Tujhe toh mera record pata hi hain waha ka”, said Shreyas Iyer.
“Mumbai se hain toh shaana ban raha hai kya? Pata hain na tereko kitne edges nikale hain nets me tera?”, asked Shardul Thakur.
“Milte hain phir aaj maidan par”, he said.
“Haa aa jaa phir. Kisliye rukha hai tu?”, Iyer replied.
The KKR skipper would be hoping to make an impact against KKR. In the last four matches, Shreyas Iyer has only managed 69 runs averaging 23 at a strike rate of 138. He is yet to register a half-century. Shardul Thakur, on the other hand would, also be desperate to rediscover his rhythm both with the bat and ball.
He has scored 24 runs from three games at an average of 12 and a strike rate of 150. The Palghar cricketer has picked up just a solitary scalp from three outings at an economy rate of 10.11. As far as the on-field contest is concerned the Kolkata Knights Riders chose to bowl first after winning the toss.
