Mushfiqur Rahim blessed with a baby boy
He had flown to Dhaka urgently soon after the end of the first Test match against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and his wife Jannatul Kefayet Mondy have been blessed with a baby boy on Monday morning. Both the mother and the baby are physically well now as the cricketer was with his family when the good news arrived. However, the news was confirmed by Mushfiqur’s father Mahmub Habib Tara via his Facebook status.
The former captain of Bangladesh was recently involved in the first Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka and had urgently flown to Dhaka on Sunday soon after the match ended.Rahim himself scored 92 runs in the first innings when his team posted a mammoth total of 513 runs in the first innings. Though he missed out to make an impact in the second innings, the home side managed to eke out a draw after being pushed to the corner by Sri Lanka.
Rahim wanted to skip the match
Interestingly, Mushfiqur Rahim wanted to skip the game to be with his wife but Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) denied his request following an injury to Shakib Al Hasan which ruled him put of the opening Test of the series. Also, earlier, he and his wife had flown to Thailand for medical check up and the news of the arrival of the baby had caught the attention of everyone.
Khaled Mahmud Sujan had also informed of the upcoming birth of the child on Sunday saying, “Monday or Tuesday is the arrival day of the new member of Mushfiq’s family. He left for Dhaka after the end of the match today (Sunday). He will be with his wife during giving his wife birth.”
However, Rahim is expected to join the squad ahead of the second and final Test match of the series as Shakib continued to remain on the sidelines due to the finger injury. The Test match will commence on February 8 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
