My comments are being miscontrued by Indian media, says Shahid Afridi
Afridi's comments have sparked the debate once again.
Shahid Afridi has once again sparked the debate with his comments on the sensitive Kashmir issue. Much like he did a few months ago, Afridi hoped for the struggle to end for the Kashmiris and delivered a controversial statement stating that it belongs to Pakistan. He has been facing the heat ever since then and the former Pakistan cricketer has come up with a clarification now as he feels that the Indian media is misinterpreting his comments.
Earlier, he had taken a sly dig on India on the Kashmir issue and had invited the scath from most of the Indian cricketers. Gautam Gambhir was the one who was livid with the same and the Twitter war began soon. Afridi, for some unknown reasons, has once again opened up on the matter. While his concern for the people in Kashmir seem genuine, the 38-year-old has said that Kashmir belongs to Pakistan which isn’t gone down well with the many.
Humanity must prevail
Shahid Afridi, on Wednesday, expressed his disappointment over Kashmir matter highlighting that the issue is still unresolved. “My clip is incomplete & out of context as what I said before that is missing.Kashmir is unresolved dispute & under brutal Indian occupation. It must be resolved as per UN resolution. Myself along with every Pakistani support Kashmiri freedom struggle. Kashmir belongs to Pakistan,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle.
This tweet was enough to create an outrage among the people from both the countries. They have been at war multiple times and clearly, the condition is getting worse day by day. After Afridi’s comments, the Indian media is going nuts over him and he has come up with another clarification now and believes in humanity.
“My comments are being misconstrued by Indian media! I’m passionate about my country and greatly value the struggles of Kashmiris. Humanity must prevail and they should get their rights,” his tweet read.
