'My journey has been more beautiful than the destination' - India's mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy after international debut

The spinner had a decent outing in the first T20I wherein he scalped 1 wicket and was economical throughout his spell.

After winning the ODI series 2-1 against Sri Lanka, India took a lead in the T20I series as well. Everybody had their eyes tight on the alternative team that was selected for this tour due to the inclusion of a lot of new names on the side. And amongst them, the latest one to don the Indian jersey was leg spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Making his debut in the first T20I, the bowler finally entered the international circuit after having missed the opportunity previously owing to injury and fitness hurdles.

Amidst this ever-competitive environment, where there is cut-throat competition in every sphere, making it to the national side is a tough nut to break. And when one finally reaches the destination, it is a moment to savor for the player and the many people associated with the dream. Varun Chakravarthy also echoed the similar sentiments of donning the Indian blues. Success takes one through every possible phase of challenges and thus, the journey is always more special as it teaches us what life is all about.

Chakravarthy took it to Twitter to open up his feelings about his debut. The spinner had a decent outing in the first T20I wherein he scalped 1 wicket and was economical throughout his spell. The bowler posted the pictures wearing the Indian jersey and captioned it: “Its been some journey from wearing a formal shirt (Architect) to donning the INDIAN jersey..with little highs & many lows, but the journey has been very beautiful than the destination, will keep marching ahead irrespective of the results. Thank you all. The journey goes on.😊🙏🏽”

The cricketing fraternity lavishes praises on Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy is known as a mystery spinner and batters find his deliveries a bit hard to read. He exuded his sheer flair in the domestic circuit and also in the Indian Premier League. The former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan too wished Varun for his debut and also had some kind words for the current cricketing system of India. He Tweeted: “Good luck #VarunChakravarthy for making India t20 debut. You gotta love current Indian cricketing SYSTEM which allowed him to come back even after few fitness test attempt. Go well”

Debutants chumming in the scenario and designing the layout for the team’s victory is a moment to cherish for the entire cricketing fraternity. The bench strength that India currently possesses shows the amount of talent that the nation beholds. The T20 World Cup is on cards and every player and his contributions will petty much have an impact on the selection process for the marquee event.
