Two teams, Cape Town Blitz and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/msl-2018-final-review-jozi-stars-shine-bright-with-both-bat-and-ball-to-clinch-the-inaugural-msl-title/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Jozi Stars</strong></a>, which had dominated throughout the tournament met each other in the final of the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL). It was the Jozi Stars who emerged triumphant ultimately to clinch the glorious trophy. Played for about a month, the MSL amused the fans with some great fun.

The league definitely lived up to the expectations and promises to come back bigger and stronger next year. There were some wondrous exhibits on display which were highly gratifying. A few players stepped up big time and did exceptionally well. Here is the XI formed out of the best players in this edition of the tournament.

1. Quinton de Kock (wk) | Cape Town Blitz

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/msl-2018-match-23-review-quinton-de-kock-s-93-powers-cape-town-blitz-into-the-final/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Quinton de Kock</strong></a> missed the initial few games of the tournament due to national duties. However, ever since he came back, he fared really well. The wicket-keeper batsman rediscovered his lost form in MSL 2018 and provided the Blitz with some lightening starts.

He scored one century and three half-centuries in the tournament. Ultimately, he finished with 412 runs in only 8 games at an average of 59. He scored his runs at a rate of 169 which is mindblowing when combined with the average. De Kock will keep wickets as well in this XI.

Another batsman who was equally as good as Quinton de Kock was Reeza Hendricks. He was impeccably consistent in the tournament and also scored two back-to-back centuries. With these performances, he could well seal his spot in the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-5-cricketers-who-can-set-the-stage-on-fire-if-south-africa-hosts-the-tournament/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>South Africa</strong></a> T20I team.

Coincidentally, Reeza scored exactly the same number of runs as De Kock in the same number of innings at an identical average. However, his strike rate of 143 is slightly on the lower side. These two openers should complement each other well if they play in the same XI.

Rassie van der Dussen is in some extraordinary form this year. The South African batsman has had a dazzling Global T20 Canada followed by the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). There were high expectations on him even before the tournament kicked off and boy didn&#8217;t he deliver.

He batted 11 times in the 12 games that he played and scored 469 runs with the highest score of an unbeaten 96. He averaged 59 in the tournament and has scored at a strike rate of 139. Dussen will bat at number three in this XI.

The Proteas skipper <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/twitter-reactions-faf-du-plessis-and-grant-thomson-take-paarl-rocks-home-in-a-close-game/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Faf du Plessis</strong></a> also had an eminent run in the tournament. He led the Paarl Rocks really well in the tournament. However, his side was very unfortunate as the Eliminator was washed out due to rain and resulted in their sorrowful exit from the tournament.

Faf will continue to lead this XI as well. He scored 318 in MSL 2018 in 8 innings at an average of 56 and a strike rate of 157. Du Plessis struck four half-centuries during the course of the tournament.

Picking AB de Villiers in this XI was slightly a tough one. Players like Gihahn Cloete and Janneman Malan performed imperceptibly better than the former South African cricketer. Although they might deserve a chance here, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ab-de-villiers-names-the-next-south-african-fast-bowling-sensation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>AB de Villiers</strong></a> fits in better given his striking ability.

Batting at number five, AB de Villiers has got an important role to play. In 10 games, de Villiers scored 282 runs at an average of 31 and strike rate of 162. He and Faf du Plessis will have to shoulder the burden of the middle-order in this side.

Cameron Delport is a good striker of the cricket ball. The left-hander hasn&#8217;t played much during the course of the tournament. But, when he did, he created a lasting impact. He also doubles up as a part-time medium pacer with the ball in hand.

In five innings, Delport scored 197 runs at a strike rate of 168 and average closing in on 40. He struck 11 sixes in the tournament and also registered a high score of 84.

DJ Bravo is one of the best T20 cricketers around. Even he had to miss a few games in the MSL 2018 as he was busy playing the T10 League 2018. Bravo was great with the ball in hand. His services weren&#8217;t required much with the willow.

In six games, this Caribbean all-rounder picked up 10 wickets in 6 games at an average of 14. His economy rate was just above 7 which is also impressive. Also, he scored 66 runs at a strike rate of 138.

This <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/twitter-reactions-tom-lathams-stupendous-effort-floors-sri-lanka/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Sri Lankan</strong></a> leg-spinner is another bowler who was at the top of his game in the MSL 2018. He has been playing cricket leagues around the world and is consistently putting up good performances. However, he hasn&#8217;t got as many opportunities as he would like to at the international level.

Moreover, Jeevan doubles up as a very handy batsman down the order and can strike a few lusty blows. In the tournament, he picked up 16 wickets in 9 games ending up as the second highest wicket-taker. However, he was slightly on the expensive side.

Beuran Hendricks was one of the better performers with the ball in the MSL. It was a tough pick between him and Kagiso Rabada. However, Hendricks makes it to the final cut being the slightly more consistent performer. His strike rate is better than that of Rabada even though he is one wicket short.

Hendricks, in 8 innings picked 12 wickets at an economy rate under 7. He was one of the go-to bowlers in the Jozi Stars&#8217; camp during crunch situations. He registered best figures of 2/13 in the tournament. His ability to clock up the pace in the 140s was incredible as well.

Possibly Duanne Olivier was the pick of all the bowlers in the tournament. He controlled the pace of the innings cleverly in the middle overs and also extracted a slight bit of reverse swing at times. Constantly bowling at flat decks helped him evolve into a beast that he is today.

He ended the tournament topping the bowling charts. The pacer picked up 20 wickets in 9 innings which was just unbelievable. Although the economy rate was slightly high towards eight, his knack of picking up regular wickets was what stood out.

The 20-year-old Lutho Sipamla was so impressive that AB de Villiers regarded him to be the next big thing in South African cricket. He hurries the batsmen with his pace and has shown a lot of promise. If nurtured well, Sipamla could turn out to be a deathly weapon for his team.

In MSL 2018, he accounted for 16 wickets in 10 games. However, he has got to learn to restrict the batsmen from scoring too many runs off his bowling. His strike rate of 13.8 is also high-grade.

<p>The 20-year-old Lutho Sipamla was so impressive that AB de Villiers regarded him to be the next big thing in South African cricket. He hurries the batsmen with his pace and has shown a lot of promise. If nurtured well, Sipamla could turn out to be a deathly weapon for his team.</p>
<p>In MSL 2018, he accounted for 16 wickets in 10 games. However, he has got to learn to restrict the batsmen from scoring too many runs off his bowling. His strike rate of 13.8 is also high-grade.</p>

<p>Two teams, Cape Town Blitz and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/msl-2018-final-review-jozi-stars-shine-bright-with-both-bat-and-ball-to-clinch-the-inaugural-msl-title/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Jozi Stars</strong></a>, which had dominated throughout the tournament met each other in the final of the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL). It was the Jozi Stars who emerged triumphant ultimately to clinch the glorious trophy. Played for about a month, the MSL amused the fans with some great fun.</p>
<p>The league definitely lived up to the expectations and promises to come back bigger and stronger next year. There were some wondrous exhibits on display which were highly gratifying. A few players stepped up big time and did exceptionally well. Here is the XI formed out of the best players in this edition of the tournament.</p>
<h3>1. Quinton de Kock (wk) | Cape Town Blitz</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/msl-2018-match-23-review-quinton-de-kock-s-93-powers-cape-town-blitz-into-the-final/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Quinton de Kock</strong></a> missed the initial few games of the tournament due to national duties. However, ever since he came back, he fared really well. The wicket-keeper batsman rediscovered his lost form in MSL 2018 and provided the Blitz with some lightening starts.</p>
<p>He scored one century and three half-centuries in the tournament. Ultimately, he finished with 412 runs in only 8 games at an average of 59. He scored his runs at a rate of 169 which is mindblowing when combined with the average. De Kock will keep wickets as well in this XI.</p>

<h3>2. Reeza Hendricks | Jozi Stars</h3>

<p>Another batsman who was equally as good as Quinton de Kock was Reeza Hendricks. He was impeccably consistent in the tournament and also scored two back-to-back centuries. With these performances, he could well seal his spot in the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-5-cricketers-who-can-set-the-stage-on-fire-if-south-africa-hosts-the-tournament/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>South Africa</strong></a> T20I team.</p>
<p>Coincidentally, Reeza scored exactly the same number of runs as De Kock in the same number of innings at an identical average. However, his strike rate of 143 is slightly on the lower side. These two openers should complement each other well if they play in the same XI.</p>
<h3>3. Rassie van der Dussen | Jozi Stars</h3>

<p>Rassie van der Dussen is in some extraordinary form this year. The South African batsman has had a dazzling Global T20 Canada followed by the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). There were high expectations on him even before the tournament kicked off and boy didn&#8217;t he deliver.</p>
<p>He batted 11 times in the 12 games that he played and scored 469 runs with the highest score of an unbeaten 96. He averaged 59 in the tournament and has scored at a strike rate of 139. Dussen will bat at number three in this XI.</p>

<h3>4. Faf du Plessis (c) | Paarl Rocks</h3>

<p>The Proteas skipper <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/twitter-reactions-faf-du-plessis-and-grant-thomson-take-paarl-rocks-home-in-a-close-game/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Faf du Plessis</strong></a> also had an eminent run in the tournament. He led the Paarl Rocks really well in the tournament. However, his side was very unfortunate as the Eliminator was washed out due to rain and resulted in their sorrowful exit from the tournament.</p>
<p>Faf will continue to lead this XI as well. He scored 318 in MSL 2018 in 8 innings at an average of 56 and a strike rate of 157. Du Plessis struck four half-centuries during the course of the tournament.</p>
<h3>5. AB de Villiers | Tshwane Spartans</h3>

<p>Picking AB de Villiers in this XI was slightly a tough one. Players like Gihahn Cloete and Janneman Malan performed imperceptibly better than the former South African cricketer. Although they might deserve a chance here, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ab-de-villiers-names-the-next-south-african-fast-bowling-sensation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>AB de Villiers</strong></a> fits in better given his striking ability.</p>
<p>Batting at number five, AB de Villiers has got an important role to play. In 10 games, de Villiers scored 282 runs at an average of 31 and strike rate of 162. He and Faf du Plessis will have to shoulder the burden of the middle-order in this side.</p>

<h3>6. Cameron Delport | Paarl Rocks</h3>

<p>Cameron Delport is a good striker of the cricket ball. The left-hander hasn&#8217;t played much during the course of the tournament. But, when he did, he created a lasting impact. He also doubles up as a part-time medium pacer with the ball in hand.</p>
<p>In five innings, Delport scored 197 runs at a strike rate of 168 and average closing in on 40. He struck 11 sixes in the tournament and also registered a high score of 84.</p>
<h3>7. Dwayne Bravo | Paarl Rocks</h3>

<p>DJ Bravo is one of the best T20 cricketers around. Even he had to miss a few games in the MSL 2018 as he was busy playing the T10 League 2018. Bravo was great with the ball in hand. His services weren&#8217;t required much with the willow.</p>
<p>In six games, this Caribbean all-rounder picked up 10 wickets in 6 games at an average of 14. His economy rate was just above 7 which is also impressive. Also, he scored 66 runs at a strike rate of 138.</p>

<h3>8. Jeevan Mendis | Tshwane Spartans</h3>

<p>This <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/twitter-reactions-tom-lathams-stupendous-effort-floors-sri-lanka/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Sri Lankan</strong></a> leg-spinner is another bowler who was at the top of his game in the MSL 2018. He has been playing cricket leagues around the world and is consistently putting up good performances. However, he hasn&#8217;t got as many opportunities as he would like to at the international level.</p>
<p>Moreover, Jeevan doubles up as a very handy batsman down the order and can strike a few lusty blows. In the tournament, he picked up 16 wickets in 9 games ending up as the second highest wicket-taker. However, he was slightly on the expensive side.</p>
<h3>9. Beuran Hendricks | Jozi Stars</h3>

<p>Beuran Hendricks was one of the better performers with the ball in the MSL. It was a tough pick between him and Kagiso Rabada. However, Hendricks makes it to the final cut being the slightly more consistent performer. His strike rate is better than that of Rabada even though he is one wicket short.</p>
<p>Hendricks, in 8 innings picked 12 wickets at an economy rate under 7. He was one of the go-to bowlers in the Jozi Stars&#8217; camp during crunch situations. He registered best figures of 2/13 in the tournament. His ability to clock up the pace in the 140s was incredible as well.</p>

<h3>10. Duanne Olivier | Jozi Stars</h3>

<p>Possibly Duanne Olivier was the pick of all the bowlers in the tournament. He controlled the pace of the innings cleverly in the middle overs and also extracted a slight bit of reverse swing at times. Constantly bowling at flat decks helped him evolve into a beast that he is today.</p>
<p>He ended the tournament topping the bowling charts. The pacer picked up 20 wickets in 9 innings which was just unbelievable. Although the economy rate was slightly high towards eight, his knack of picking up regular wickets was what stood out.</p>
<h3>11. Lutho Sipamla | Tshwane Spartans</h3>
