Narendra Modi, Sheikh Hasina invited for the second Test in Eden Gardens against Bangladesh

Team India is currently hosting a three-match Test series for South Africa. In that, they have taken a convincing lead of 2-0. The last encounter of the tournament will take place in Ranchi starting on 19th October. And the upcoming assignment of the hosts against Bangladesh can take a historic note on its beginning.

After the series against Proteas will see its conclusion, India is scheduled to host a three-match T20I series and two Tests starting on 3rd November 2019. The 2nd Test of the series can be lighted with the presence of Prime Minister from both the countries.

Narender Modi and Sheikh Hasina is expected to attend a Test

According to The Quint, the invitations have been sent by Cricket Association of Bengal – CAB to PM Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina in order to attend the second Test starting on 22nd November 2019. It is expected that this important step is taken by CAB officials to celebrate cricket. After Sourav Ganguly becomes President of BCCI, some more interesting names can also make into this list of attendants.

In past, such high profile presence came back in 2011 World Cup in Mohali when India played Pakistan in semi-finals. Fans witnessed the presence of former India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Yousaf Raza Gilani in the stadium during the match. The hosts ended on a winning side in that crucial encounter.

The second Test of the series is scheduled on the same date on which Jagmohan Dalmiya Memorial Lecture will take place and Ganguly might be seen as the speaker on that occasion. Newly constructed indoor training facility can also see its inauguration during the second Test between India and Bangladesh.

Team India looks in top form and recorded their 11th consecutive Test series win at home. They have won 25 out of their last 32 encounters with only one defeat that came against Australia in 2017. Virat Kohli and Co. are leading the ICC Test Championship but Bangladesh is still due to open their account in the Test league.
