Nathan McCullum is confused as two of the best T20 spinners go unsold in IPL auction
This year’s Indian Premier League auction was one of the strangest you will ever see. It saw some of the players never known get the deals of their lifeline while some of the world beaters were left unsold. This IPL season has begun with the uniqueness of its own.
Imran Tahir who tops the ICC rankings in both One Day Internationals and the T20Is was left unsold at the auction. He was based at a very low price compared to him. He was priced at INR 50 lakhs which is very much affordable. Imran is also one of the very few in-form bowlers. It was nothing but strange for him to go unsold.
Ish Sodhi, on the other hand, is another leg spinner who missed out. Early days in his T20 career, he has shown a lot of promise. He has played twelve T20 Internationals and has managed 21 wickets. He picked up a wicket every sixteen balls at an economy rate of 6.30 which is exceptionally good for any spinner. This leg spinner is faster through the air and is very hard to hit. He has already proved this multiple time but to no effect, as even he went unsold at the auction.
Former BlackCaps spinner Nathan McCullum was shocked to see two of the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game go team-less in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. He tweeted out his frustration and said that he was confused as two best spinners weren’t picked.

He tweeted “I’m still confused. 2 best t20 leg spinners going around @ish_sodhi and Imran Tahir not getting picked up so far!!! Surely @IPL #spinwinst20.”
McCullum who also went unsold in the last year’s auction knows a thing or two about that. However, both these bowlers must feel robbed as they will not be able to play this year’s Indian Premier League.
