Never made any match fixing claims, says Hasin Jahan
The CoA has begun their investigation on the match-fixing allegations on Mohammed Shami.
The news surrounding the personal life of Mohammed Shami took a new angle when the cricketer’s wife made public some Telephonic conversation between the two. On the basis of the same, Shami was accused of taking money from a Pakistani woman in Dubai. Earlier, Hasin Jahan made allegations on her husband of having extra-marital affairs and torturing her for quite some time.
Speaking more on the match-fixing angle, Hasin Jahan made comments in regards to the possibility of the cricketer cheating the country if he can cheat her wife. Reacting on the same, BCCI has asked the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) to probe into the matter and submit its report in a week so as to take a call on Shami’s future with the Indian cricket.
Never made any Match-fixing allegations: Hasin Jahan
In her exclusive interview with the India Today, Jahan defended herself as she claims of not making any match-fixing allegations against her husband. She was of the view that sees her with no understanding of the technicalities of the game and alleges her husband who is trying to bring this angle to the scene. “I have never made any match-fixing claims. I do not even understand the game then how can I talk about it. It is Shami who is bringing the match-fixing angle,” she told India Today.
Meanwhile, as per the ACU investigation procedure, the BCCI officials went to the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar in central Kolkata where Shami’s wife was summoned. “BCCI officials came and spoke to her today at Lalbazar. The sessions continued for more than three hours,” confirmed Zakir Hussain, Hasin’s lawyer. This was in response to the orders by the CoA chief Vinod Rai, who in his letter to the ACU asks them to investigate about two major issues pertaining to what the recordings reveal.
CoA chief’s letter to the ACU
“This has reference to the various media reports pertaining to allegations against Md. Shami. The Committee of Administrators has listened to the audio recording of a telephonic conversation which it is claimed is between Md. Shami and his wife. The said audio recording is available in public domain,”Rai had written in his letter.
“The Committee of Administrators is concerned only with such portion of the said audio recording in which the person who it is claimed is Md. Shami is heard saying another person by the name of ‘Mohammad Bhai’ had sent money to Md. Shami through a Pakistani lady by the name of ‘Alisba’,” the CoA had said in a letter to Neeraj Kumar.
“Please investigate the above assertions/allegations under the BCCI Anti-Corruption Code and submit a report to the Committee of Administrators with your findings as to whether there is any basis to proceed further in terms thereof. The investigation should cover (i) the identity and antecedents of ‘Mohammad Bhai’ and ‘Alisba’; (ii) whether any money was in fact sent by the said Mohammad Bhai through the said Alisba to Md. Shami; and (iii) if yes, the purpose for which the said money was received by Md. Shami,” the letter read.
