Pakistan kickstarted their T20 World Cup campaign on a winning note. They registered a thumping victory to break India’s 12-match winning streak in World Cups. The next assignment for the Men in Green is against the Kane Williamson-led side. However, ahead of the match, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar had a piece of suggestion for the Pakistan fans.

Earlier, New Zealand was scheduled to play a white ball series against Pakistan. However, just before the start of the first ODI, the Black Caps abandoned the series against the host citing security threats. The PCB had denied the existence of any such threats and also assured the visiting team about the same.

Now that Pakistan and New Zealand were scheduled to lock horns with each other in the mega event, Akhtar had asked the Pakistani fans to remain calm. He took it to his official Twitter account to put forward his opinions on the encounter in a witty manner.  He pointed that the Kiwis might find some other reason ahead of the game, to call off the proceedings.

Shoaib Akhtar comes up with a cheeky Tweet ahead of the New Zealand-Pakistan clash

“I request all Pakistan fans to remain silent and not enjoy too extravagantly. There is every chance that New Zealand may ask for the match to be called off due to too much noise inside the stadium, if not for security concerns. #T20WorldCup,” Akhtar’s Tweet read.

In their first match of the tournament, Pakistan battled it out against India. Considering the latter’s record over the former in the ICC events, India entered the match as favorites to win. However, the Babar Azam-led side exuded some great character to script history and secure a win against the Men in Blue.

Ahead of this high-profile clash, Akhtar had advised the Pakistan skipper to be fearless against the opposition. “Important baat @babarazam258: Sab se pehle, Aap nay ghabrana nahi hai :),” the former speedster had tweeted.

Pakistan’s openers displayed their fiefdom by taking the team past victory. Babar Azam played unbeaten innings of 68 runs whereas Mohammad Rizwan stayed not out on 79 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi was clinical with the ball, scalping three crucial wickets in the match.
