All the statistical highlights from the 2nd day’s play in Wellington that saw the fall of 10 wickets:

A debut to remember for Jamieson:

4/39Kyle Jamieson’s bowling figures of 4/39 are the best for New Zealand on Test debut at the Basin Reserve. Bob Blair is the only other NZ bowler to take a 4-fer on Test debut at this venue. Blair took 4/98 in the opening innings of the 1953 Test match against South Africa.

Overall, only Ernie Toshack of Australia had better figures of Test debut at the Basin Reserve than Jamieson as he took 4/12 in the opening innings of the 1946 Test match here against the home team.

Williamson goes past McCullum and Taylor:

53 – The 89-run knock by Williamson is now his 53rd score in excess of 50 in Test cricket. Only Stephen Fleming (55) has more fifty-plus scores in Tests for New Zealand than Williamson. Williamson was tied on 2nd place in this list alongside Ross Taylor before this game with 52 scores of 50+.

5 – This was the 5th consecutive time Kane Williamson has scored 50+ in the first innings at home while batting 2nd. His last five first-inning scores while batting second at home read 89, 51, 74, 200* and 91.

End of Rahane’s streaks:
