New Zealand vs India: Trent Boult runs through the hapless Indian batting lineup
The Indian batting had no answers to Trent's thunderboult's.
Trent Boult has been one of the gun bowlers New Zealand cricket has ever produced. The Blacks Caps are currently playing a five-match ODI series against India and Boult has been at his best, leading the bowling unit. The Kiwis lost the first three matches, but Boult was able to chip in with the wickets in the hour of need. Nevertheless, he produced his best performance in the fourth ODI.
The 29-year-old produced a magical spell of 10-4-21-5 at the Seddon Park in Hamilton and helped his team bowl India, who were without Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, out for a paltry in 30.5 overs. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got India off to a steady start courtesy of a 21-run partnership from 35 balls. Boult drew first blood with the wicket of Dhawan, who got out for 13 runs.
Trent Boult wrecks havoc
In his next over, Boult accounted for Sharma, the stand-in Indian skipper, for seven runs. Shubman Gill, making his debut, couldn’t make an impact as he gave a simple caught and bowled to Boult after scoring nine from 21 balls. Kedar Jadhav was unable to deal with an in-swinger from Trent. He used the Decision Review System (DRS), but it was more in hope than conviction.
Hardik Pandya tried to get the Indian innings back on the track with some scorching strokes off Boult. Unfortunately, a bouncer down the leg side got big on Pandya and he gloved it to keeper Tom Latham, who took a rather simple catch. Pandya was the visiting team’s last hopes of making a comeback.
Boult was, quite expectantly, cock-a-hoop after getting the Indian side on the mat. He was well assisted by Colin de Grandhomme, who picked up three wickets. In their run chase, the Black Caps took only 14.4 overs to complete the formality of gunning the target down.
