Many people had been advocating for Dinesh Karthik’s promotion in the Indian batting order. It was hard to comprehend why Karthik was not given enough opportunities. Even in South Africa, he saw the likes of Pandyas and Pandeys being promoted ahead of him. In the only outing he got with the bat there, he had clubbed two boundaries in no time. Not many might remember that.

However, his heroics in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy is something that everyone would remember for quite a long time. Dinesh Karthik, in the limited opportunities that he has got, has proven to be a very effective player for the side. His batting has come as a very big positive for the Indian team.

It will not be surprising to see DK becoming a regular face in the side if MS Dhoni hangs up his boots in 2019. He is still 32 and has a lot of cricket left in him. Moreover, DK has certainly shown that he is more than capable of finishing games for the team.
