Bangladesh cruised to the final of the Nidahas Trophy after winning a last over thriller against the hosts Sri Lanka in the virtual semi-final. Kushal Perera and Thisara Perera’s fifties were the saving grace for the home team after they lost half their side for just 41 runs. The pair added 97 for the 6th wicket which helped them to finish at 159/7. Bangladesh were chasing down the target quite easily before they lost wickets in a bunch. The equation came down to 12 needed from the final four balls but Mahmudullah needed only three deliveries who finished off with a four, two and a six.

1 – This was Bangladesh’s first win under Shakib Al Hasan’s captaincy in T20I cricket having lost each of their previous six games under him.
Interestingly, Sri Lanka lost all the eight T20I matches they played under Thisara Perera. Their recent win against India came under the captaincy of Dinesh Chandimal.
3 – Number of wins for Bangladesh in their previous 17 T20I matches. All those three have been against Sri Lanka and all at the RPS in Colombo.
12 – Runs successfully chased down by Bangladesh in the final over. This is the first time they chased down more than ten runs in the final over of any International game. The nine runs they chased down in the previous game against Sri Lanka were their previous most.
39 – Mustafizur Rahman’s 39 runs are the most conceded by a Bangladesh player in a T20I after bowling a maiden over. Only seven bowlers conceded more than 39 runs in a T20I during after bowling a maiden.
58 – Thisara Perera scored 58 while batting at No.7 in this game. This is the 6th highest individual score for any player while batting at No.7 and a lower position in the T20I format.
Perera also became the first player to score a fifty in the T20I format for Sri Lanka while batting at No.6 and a lower position. Perera scored 49 while batting at No.7 against England in the 2014 Oval T20I
97 – The 97-run partnership between Kushal Perera and Thisara Perera is the 2nd highest stand in T20I cricket for the 6th and lower wicket. Mike Hussey and Cameron White shared a 101-run partnership in the 2010 WT20 game against Sri Lanka.
1003 – Mushfiqur Rahim became the 3rd Bangladesh player to complete 1000 runs in the T20I format after Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan. Mahmudullah finished the game with 996 T20I runs to his name.
