No liquor to be served to VIP’s during Dharamsala T20I: No liquor or other alcohol related beverages will be administered to VIP’s and guests during the India-South Africa T20 international match as the game happens to take place on the birth anniversary of highly revered Freedom fighter and father of the nation of India, Mahatma Gandhi.

Throughout his life, Gandhi was against the consumption of alcohol. His birth in Gujarat is one of the main reasons why the state of Gujarat is virtually liquor-free.

Informing this, the DC Kangra Ritesh Chouhan said that because the match falls on Gandhi Jayanti – the birthday of the ‘father of the nation’, it is a ‘dry day’ throughout the country.

Chouhan further said, “the authorities conducting the Indo-South Africa T20 tie have also been informed that liquor is prohibited in public places on October 2”.

The game to be played at HPCA Stadium will be the inaugural match of the Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela series.
