No mercy for corrupt practices, warns PCB Chief Najam Sethi

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Najam Sethi, has made it clear that the board will not tolerate any kind of corrupt activities in the game of cricket. Citing the example of the Anti Corruption Tribunal verdict against Pakistani cricketer Sharjeel Khan, who was held guilty of spot fixing, Sethi said that the decision is a proof that the board is moving with a zero tolerance attitude towards corrupt practices.

Sethi hailed the work done by the PCB Anti Corruption and Vigilance Department for their subtle work and handling the matter with perfection. Sethi also mentioned that the department was provided full support by the PCB as soon as the plot to corrupt the opening game of the Pakistan Super League 2017 season was unearthed.

What Sethi said:

“The PCB Anti Corruption and Vigilance Department deserves great credit for identifying the culprits and nipping the spot-fixing scandal in the bud through their prompt action”, he said.

“Both Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were promptly withdrawn and sent home for their questionable conduct that sullied the game besides tarnishing the spotless reputation of the PSL”, said the PCB Chief.

Najam Sethi stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board will continue to work against corrupt practices and wishes to make the game free of these acts both the domestic and the international level.

“PCB hopes that the three remaining players will be dealt in accordance to the proportionality of their offences “, said Sethi. ” The PCB will continue to fight all corrupt elements that attempt to tarnish the game both at the Domestic and International level”. he added.

Sethi has done a brilliant job since taking over as the PCB Chief. An ICC World XI is set to visit Pakistan in the very near future which will end the international drought in the country. It is believed that West Indies will also visit Pakistan for a small tour after that.
