Pakistan’s spearhead paceman Mohammad Amir has been declared fit to continue bowling in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy in England. However, Pakistan have suffered a blow in the form of Wahab Riaz, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament.

Mohammad Amir gets injured in the 44th over

Amir picked up an injury on his left leg while bowling in the first innings of Pakistan’s encounter against India on Sunday. After having bowled the first ball of the 44th over, Amir lay down on the ground and the physio was forced to come onto the field. He was seen immediately tending Amir’s left leg, but the bowler then hobbled out of the field as he was unable to complete the over.

Wahab Riaz then completed the over, but soon enough even he was off the field. Wahab bowled 5 balls in the 46th over of the first innings, but couldn’t carry on with the last ball as he seemed to have done some damage to his foot during the follow through. Wahab promptly took off his right shoe and walked off, leaving Imad Wasim to bowl the final delivery of the over.

Wahab Riaz ruled out of CT 2017

While Amir has been declared fit to continue for Pakistan, Wahab Riaz has been ruled out of this edition of the Champions Trophy. He twisted his right ankle during the high voltage game against India at Edgbaston. The pacer was taken for scans today which confirmed that he suffered a deltoid ligament complex after an eversion injury mechanism while bowling.

The injury would require him to rest for at least 2 weeks and thus he will not be able to take any further part in the ongoing tournament. To add a replacement for the left-arm pacer the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has an official request to the ICC Technical Committee to allow a replacement.
