While we often say injuries are part and parcel of the game, we always pray for the safety of our favorite cricketers, who risk their everything in the field. The cricketing fraternity was in a state of shock when the news of the sad demise of Phil Hughes surfaced on the media. While Sri Lanka was battling it out against Pakistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, one of their main players suffered a scare.
Oh! Dickwella, what have you done?
Sri Lanka were bundled out for just 208 runs and the chance of a comeback was diminishing with every single run scored by the Pakistani openers, Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman. After the completion of 10 overs, Pakistan were 53/0 and it seemed that time is the only thing separating the Green shirts from yet another emphatic win. The next incident that happened could be a dreadful sight for any cricket lover.
Veteran Lankan cricketer Chamara Kapugedera was simply walking towards the crease and had no idea that his team’s wicket-keeper, Niroshan Dickwella lobbed the ball towards him. By the time Kapugedera noticed the ball, it had already hit him in his face. While he prevented his eyes from any injury, the dreadful sight of his massively swollen face was horrific. He received medical attention quickly and was rushed off the field.

Pakistan are inching towards a series win
Besides Kapugedera’s injury, there wasn’t any other hiccups to the game, neither in the Pakistani innings. The moment this article was written, Pakistan were 122/1 and needed just 87 runs to seal the series. Imam-ul-Haq is currently not out on 64, and is receiving commendable support from the in-form batter Babar Azam, who has scored 20 runs till now. With the likes of Hafeez, Malik and Sarfraz yet to put their pads on, it is certainly going to be a cakewalk for Pakistan from here.
