Pakistan announce Test squad for the tour of West Indies
The three-match One Day International series starts from April 7 in Guyana followed by the Test series from April 22 in Kingston. Jamaica.
Pakistan has been brilliant in their opening series of the tour to West Indies. The team from the Caribbean seemed to have misjudged the quality of the sub-continent side as they were baffled by Pakistan and lost the four-match T20 series three wins to one.
The three-match One-Day International series starts from April 7 in Guyana and the Test series from April 22 in Kingston Jamaica. The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for the Test series quite early. There were not many surprises on offer but seems like Pakistan have gone for the experience with some spice of youth to better the taste.
Misbah Ul Haq will captain the side as the wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmad who is their limited overs captain will play second fiddle to Misbah. Babar Azam after an impressive show in Australia has retained his position in the Test squad. The humble 22-year-old player from Lahore has been in good nick and will be an important player as far as Pakistan are concerned.
The batting clan of Pakistan will be led by the omnipresent Younis Khan. Ahmad Shahzad, Asad Shafique, Sarfraz Ahmed, Misbah Ul Haq are the other experienced batters in the squad. The 16-member squad will commence their Test campaign from April 22nd and will battle in three Test matches.
The bowling department will be led by Muhammad Amir and Wahab Riaz will also be important to the squad. Yasir Shah the leg spinner will be a protagonist of the squad.
Inzaman Ul Haq the chief selector said in the press release that the squad was selected in consultation with Coach Mickey Arthur. Inzamam said, “The team is a fine blend of experience and youth and believe that team will do well in the tour.”
