Talking about Amir's career, the left-arm pacer had announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020. It must be noted that Amir was also banned from participating in any form of cricket after his involvement in spot-fixing in 2010.
After serving the ban, he returned to the international arena and played a vital role in his team's triumph during the 2017 Champions Trophy. The left-arm pacer completely bamboozled India's top-order as he scalped three crucial wickets, including Virat Kohli's in the final match of the tournament.
Talking about his numbers, Amir took 119 wickets in 36 Tests while his tally in 61 One-day internationals is 81 wickets. He also scalped 59 wickets in just 50 T20I matches. At the time of his retirement, Amir stated that the national board had mentally tortured him and he did not wish to represent Pakistan anymore.
"I don't want to play international cricket anymore. I was always available for white-ball cricket but I have had shabby treatment from the team management who have mentally tortured me, and that's unacceptable," Amir had said.
Despite retiring from the international arena, Amir continues to participate in several franchise-based leagues around the world. The former pacer is also quite vocal in giving his thoughts on current cricketing matters. Amir recently lambasted the Pakistani selection committee for their squad selection for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
