Pakistan players to receive full prize money, without any tax deductions
Along with the ICC awards, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) patron, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced Rs. 10 million each prize for the players, while the board also, announced Rs. 1 million apiece.
Pakistan Cricket team, led by captain Sarfraz Khan, lifted the cup in the recently concluded Champions Trophy, creating history in their wake. Congratulatory messages and appreciation posts have poured in from all over the world for the team. And now, the victory just got sweeter for the players, as they will not have to pay any tax on their prize money from the tournament.
The Pakistan government has decided not to deduct any tax from the tournament championship money of $2.2 million. They’ve also made the decision to apply the same- no-deduction policy for the prize money received for various Man of the Match awards, including Hasan Ali’s Player of the Tournament and Golden Ball awards.
Pakistan’s dream run:
The Pakistan team had a stellar run in the tournament, winning over Sri Lanka, England and South Africa to reach the finals. They then defeated India in a superb match of cricket, in the finals of the tournament. Young Fakhar Zaman hit a blazing ton to aid his team, while pacer Hasan Ali and Mohammad Amir picked up 3 wickets each. Pakistan cruised to victory by a huge margin of 180 runs, clinching the coveted title.
Young Ali was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his 13 wickets at an overall economy of 4.29 in the series.
Money to be divided equally
The entire prize money is going to be divided equally among all the members of the squad and a share of it has also been allotted to the management. This is according to the rules and regulations, which specifies for the money to be dispersed equally rather than being given to the individual player having won the award.
Each member of the Pakistan squad would approximately be getting Rs. 15 million, including players like Wahab Riaz, who had to be replaced by the left-arm pacer, Rumman Raees in the playing eleven, owing to an ankle injury in the first game. Also, the management will get Rs. 1.2 million apiece.
