The Pakistan cricket team is in total misplace at the moment. They suffered an embarrassing 0-3 defeat at the hands of Australia in the Test series recently. The experienced players could not step up to the challenge, nor did the youngsters grab the opportunity to make a name for themselves. Amidst this situation, the Pakistan team management has requested to include Mohammad Hafeez in the ODI squad.

Mohammad Hafeez has been one of the senior most players in the Pakistan dressing room for years now. No wonder why the team management is keen on roping in his services for the 5 match ODI series against Australia. As per the tweet of a renowned Pakistani journalist, the team management requested the same to the selection committee. Much to the delight of the Pakistani team, the selection committee has agreed on to the request and Mohammad Hafeez will be added to the squad for the ODIs.

The tweet read, “Team management requested for Mohammad Hafeez to be added to Pak ODI squad. Selection committee has accepted the request #Cricket #AUSvPAK.”

Hafeez is a veteran of 177 ODIs and has amassed 5404 runs with 11 centuries to his name. His bowling action was under the scanner and subsequently banned by the ICC recently. However, he served the ban period and his action is now cleared to bowl in the international cricket yet again. With 129 wickets to his name, he is more than just a handy addition as an all-rounder. Hafeez played his last ODI for Pakistan in August 2016 when Pakistan toured England.

Coming into the recently concluded Test series, Pakistan had made a good start to the tour. They came very close to registering a record win in the first Test riding on Asad Shafiq’s knock. Their batting let them down in all the three Test matches. Barring Azhar Ali, no other batsman could score runs on a consistent basis. The team had to pay for it eventually. Their strike bowlers, Mohammad Amir and Yasir Shah, looked ordinary on the tour. This only added to the woes of the visitors.
