Former Pakistan stalwart Shahid Afridi has lent a hand of support for the Pakistan team which is finding it tough to find a sponsor. Pakistan has been one of the most sought after teams in international cricket.

Apart from many controversies that have dented the image of Pakistan cricket, the nation in itself still has been able to maintain the status of a popular team in the cricketing circle. Popularity has always attracted sponsors in this game and Pakistan has never struggled on that front for quite a long time.

But today’s time doesn’t look good as many teams and their cricket boards are dealing with an adverse financial crisis. Pakistan are no different and has been facing the problem of getting a good sponsor which can fetch good dividends for the PCB and in the way generate some good facilities for its cricketers.

Thanking Wasim Khan & the PCB for their continued support: Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi had earlier expressed his happiness for having his foundation’s logo getting featured on Pakistan players jersey by tweeting, “We are delighted that the Shahid Afridi Foundation logo will be featured on Pakistan playing kits since we are charity partners to Pakistan Cricket Board. Thanking Wasim Khan & the PCB for their continued support & wishing our boys all the very best with the tour #HopeNotOut.”

Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq, further elaborating the news, tweeted on Wednesday that along with the Shahid Afridi Foundation logo, a couple of sponsor’s logos would also be there on the kits of the players during the England tour. “The Shahid Afridi Foundation logo will appear on the Pakistan kit for the tour of England, together with a couple of sponsor’s logos.”

Some sources have revealed that some negotiations were continuing with the PCB and one multi-national beverage company, which had shown interest in signing a new team logo sponsorship deal but had offered an amount far below the expectations of the board’s marketing pundits. It is being said that the company had offered only 35 to 40 per cent of the amount it had earlier paid to the board in their last contract.

Meanwhile, Pakistan are set to play three Tests and as many T20 Internationals in their tour of England. The Test series will be played at Old Trafford, Manchester and Southampton respectively from 5th August to 25th August. All the T20s will be played at Old Trafford from 28th August to 1st September.
