Pakistan vs Australia: Azhar Ali runs himself out in a bizarre fashion

Pakistan and Australia are currently fighting it out in Abu Dhabi in the ongoing second Test. The hosts are dominating after bundling out the opponents for a paltry score of 145 runs. While they have a great chance to bat the Aussies out of the game, Pakistan are making some silly mistakes on the field. A naive approach from Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq on the third morning has come under the scanner as the former was run-out in the most bizarre fashion. The incident took place in the 53rd over of the innings which Peter Siddle was delivering. Azhar edged a length delivery past the gully fielder and both the batsmen stopped in the middle of the pitch presuming that the ball went to the boundary. They started chatting to each other as well showing some glove-love. But the ball had actually stopped a couple of yards inside and Mitchell Starc rightly fired in the throw to the wicket-keeper Tim Paine who took the bails off and started celebrating to leave the batsmen surprised. They had no idea what was going on and the replays clarified that the ball never reached the boundary and Azhar Ali had to depart after playing so well for his 64 runs. Even the coach Mickey Arthur was left frustrated to witness the dismissal and he was seen shaking his head unhappily. Pakistan are known to throw a good position and though this dismissal wouldn’t have much of a repercussion on the match situation, Azhar has just given it away with his casual approach. Pakistan lose two wickets in the morning Pakistan were sitting comfortably with the lead of 281 runs at the end of the second day’s play. They must’ve thought of batting the visitors out of the game. But the overnight batsmen Haris Sohail and Azhar Ali have been dismissed early now. Babar Azam and Shafiq are batting currently as they have extended their lead to 320 runs in the second innings. Australia will be hoping to pick the remaining wickets soon and then look to put a stellar effort in their second essay much like they did in Dubai.
