Pakistan and Windies to lock horns in bilateral series in 2021
Florida in the United States will also host a couple of matches.
Earlier in April, Pakistan and Windies locked horns in a three-match T20I series at the iconic Karachi International Stadium. The home team thrashed Jason Mohammed’s men black and blue by a margin of 3-0. The hosts won all three matches without dropping much sweat. The teams are again scheduled to meet in 2021 in a couple of bilateral series.
In July 2021, Pakistan will tour the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) for a T20I and a Test series. The Test series consists of three matches to be played in the Caribbean Islands. Out of the three T20Is, two will be played at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill in Florida while one will be played in the West Indies itself as per reports in Geo TV.
“One T20 and three Tests between Pakistan and West Indies will take place in July 2021 in West Indies. Two T20 matches will also take place in Florida, United States,” a source mentioned. Furthermore, the Windies are also listed to play Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a T20I and an ODI series.
Contrasting run of the teams
Both teams have had contrasting fortunes in the recent times. Pakistan, captained by Sarfraz Ahmed, won the T20I triangular series, involving Zimbabwe and Australia. They lost their second match against Aaron Finch’s men but made a strong comeback. Thereafter, they played a five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports in Bulawayo, which they whitewashed.
The Windies, on the contrary, won their Test series against Bangladesh, but couldn’t replicate their form in the limited-overs series. They lost both the ODI and the T20I series by 2-1. Apart from the bilateral series’, the teams also have the 50-over World Cup in England and Wales, and the World T20 in Australia to put their focus on.
